Dear Friend:

I have been asked to be more transparent about who I am and what I stand for.   Understandably, people want to know who they are working with in this delicate and confidential relationship.

As trustee, I assume the highest responsibility to apply the trust document and law of trust administration to support the beneficiaries.

My intention is to provide a personalized approach tailored specifically to those people involved with each trust.

This personalized approach is informed by my professional values:

  • Pursuit of excellence, which includes meticulous attention to detail as well as to the big picture;
  • Honoring spirituality;
  • Finances are essential – and they are not enough:  only in support of the people involved is the money a true asset;
  • The big picture is important as the little one.

These principles and beliefs guide my work:

  • Transparency of trust administration;
  • Empowerment of primary beneficiary,
  • Preparation of contingent beneficiaries,
  • Encouragement of the legacy and work of the grantor, and of the family,
  • Values-based management,
  • Conscious Capitalism,
  • Efficient use of resources, including the use of those already existing, where appropriate.

These values, beliefs and principles are essential to who I am as a person.   For more detail on the legacy of my own family, I am working on and will make available to certain confidants my report on the Felix Family legacy.

Various skills and attributes help me implement my work, including:

  • Meticulous issue-centered lawyer thought;
  • Practical Wisdom & Appreciative Inquiry;
  • Open spirituality;
  • Insightful psychology of money and family;
  • Welcoming emotional intelligence;
  • Endless energy of polarities;
  • Continual learning about additional tools and methodologies for working and communicating with people;
  • On-going research and investigation into appropriate additional resources and support.

I have found these books are representative of the values, principles, beliefs, skills and attributes which I practice and aspire to:

  • Trustworthy: New Angles on Trusts from Beneficiaries & Trustees, by Hartley Goldstone & Kathy Wiseman
  • Family Wealth – How Family Members and Their Advisers Preserve Human, Intellectual, and Financial Assets for Generations, by James Hughes, Jr.
  • The Brower Quadrant, – Live Life Deliberately, By Lee Brower
  • The Legacy Conversation, by C. Friend and J. Weiner
  • The Soul of Money, Reclaiming the Wealth of our Inner Resources, by Lynne Twist

I guarantee that I and my staff will meet these lofty goals imperfectly, but we will use our best efforts to correct any deviation and to learn.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of service.

Daniel P. Felix
